Read full description of the books The Voivod: A Ghost Story:I believe this might just be the creepiest bit of fiction I have ever read. I have read Poe, King, Hill, Rice, and Koontz so I have high expectations for my ghost stories. After reading this brief work by Mr. Selwood I stared at the wall for a good while. Thinking, and wondering, and worrying.
I almost didn't write this review because I feared someone would come across it, read it, then suffer the same fate. But after all is said and done this was just a story and a story can't harm someone in real life, right?
If you are interested you can pick this little gem up for your Kindle for only $.99. Besides the creep factor the writing is lyrical and atmospheric. I first came to admire the author's work when I read The Sword of Moses. That is another amazing story (full length novel) and I can not recommend it highly enough.

THE AVA CURZON TRILOGY
“Dr Ava Curzon is Lara Croft meets Evelyn Salt - the first real challenger to Dan Brown's Robert Langdon.” “Rollercoaster crypto-thriller … a ride that thrills and educates … move over Lara Croft!” (Daily Express – Five Star – Pick of the Week)
THE SWORD OF MOSES (2013). In this # 1 international bestseller, former MI6 agent turned archaeologist Dr Ava Curzon is engaged by American intelligence to track down an African militia claiming to hold the Ark of the Covenant. Her breakneck descent into the shadowy realm of dark biblical texts hurls her across continents and deep into the opaque worlds of the Knights Templar and neo-Nazis, pushing her mentally and physically to the limits.
THE APOCALYPSE FIRE (2016), the sequel, was released on October 2016. The stakes don’t get any higher. Dr Ava Curzon returns in the breathtaking sequel to bestselling thriller, The Sword of Moses. When the Turin Shroud is stolen in a violent assault, archaeologist and former spy Dr Ava Curzon is plunged into a desperate struggle against the leader of an apocalyptic Russian cult. Recruited by the UK’s clandestine MI13 intelligence agency – and aided by the Vatican’s security division and her former colleague, Ferguson – Ava is sucked into a world of dark extremism and Biblical secrets. As the chase catapults her from London to the Vatican, Paris and Jerusalem, she must unravel the mysteries of an ancient icon belonging to the shadowy Order of Malta. With time running out, and military violence in the Middle East the price of failure, the world stands on the brink …
These two stories, THE VOIVOD (2015) and SUFFER THE CHILDREN (2015) are inspired by the old antiquarian ghost stories of writers like M R James, which I have loved since childhood. They have an ‘old England’ feel to them: a world of quiet bookishness in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The protagonists explore libraries in country houses or go on solitary holidays, only for the calm to be shattered by awful and terrible events.
I also write history books.
SPIES, SADISTS AND SORCERERS: THE HISTORY YOU WEREN’T TAUGHT AT SCHOOL (2015)
International #1 bestseller. “Dares to break rank and expose lies, debunk myths and set the record straight … enjoyable, controversial and compelling …” (Medievalists). With a breath-taking sweep spanning Rome to the modern day, popular historian and author Dominic Selwood challenges the tradi
