Read full description of the books Beastly Tales...or something of that nature:In the eye of the night, she is the shadow, who watches the creatures pass by and remembers them. Her fingers clutch the pen and splatter ink across princesses' bodies. She has taken her love of the dark feminine and the fey and the adventure and turned it to write about all the strange, fabulous, unexpected in this world and in other worlds. The writing has been collected and pools into the pages of Beastly Tales. Explore the dark underbelly of the city night or visit a future planet earth. Find out what really happened to Jack's cow and Cinderella's glass slipper. Howl with the coyote and weep with the eagle in this collection of tales by the mistress of the dark and skulking.
Beastly Tales is a compilation of tales.
Some are fairy tales retold,
Some are urban fairy tales,
Some are tales in space,
Some are just tales...
Read information about the authorMary specializes in science fiction and fantasy, although she does appreciate a wide breadth of the literary canon. She started reading at an early age, Peter Pan, The World of Pooh, Laura Ingalls, Alice In Wonderland, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Enchanted Forest were among her favorites. Her love of reading continued, as she earned her B.S. in biology from the University of California San Diego, so it was a natural progression to start writing during her off time. She was a veterinarian’s assistant, then a field biologist, and then a zookeeper at the San Francisco Zoo, while she wrote her first novel. But her passion for writing and books caused her to veer off her original path and drew her to publishing. She graduated from Mills College, Oakland with a MFA in Creative Writing and English, and is currently a Literary Agent at Kimberley Cameron & Associates, as well as a published author, and occasional writing coach for She Writes Press and Warner Coaching*. She also is a member of the writing group Relentless Writers, which blogs about everything from writing tips to publishing tips to commiserating authorial frustrations. Above all she continues to read, both her favorite authors/books: Anne McCaffrey, Don Quixote, Robin McKinley, Pride & Prejudice, Patricia A. McKillip, The Count of Monte Cristo, Toni Morrison, Blood Meridian, Charlotte Bronte, The Master & Margarita, Herman Hesse, Cosmic Banditos, John Steinbeck, and also debut/popular/indie fiction.
