To be honest, I thought Bleach, Volume 39: El Verdugo was going to be a disappointment. The battles in the beginning of the book, which focused on the female Shinigami, lacked the excitement expected from a fight involving the Soul Reaper captains and their adjutants. I found the sketches in between the chapters more entertaining than the actual fights.
And then Ayon happened...
... and ripped a hole in Rangiku! AWE-some!!
With Rangiku down, Momo attempts to save her but Ayon knocks her out with a fatal blow. Shūhei and Izuru rush to their defense, but find they also are no match for the crazy Chimera. With the Soul Reapers dropping like flies, Captain General Yamamoto steps in and shows 'em who's boss!
From this point forward, the intensity explodes.
The ending is the best part where it will have your heart racing. The Primera Espada is revealed while fighting one of my favorite characters. I'm super excited to read the next volume for that fight. Another fight we've all been eagerly anticipating looks like it will be happening in the next volume too! I predict Volume 40 will be amazing!
Other favorite moments:
Momo arriving to help Rangiku.
Aizen thinking about Momo.
Jūshirō kicking butt.
Captain General Yamamoto showing age ain't nothing but a number.
Interesting to see who replaced Nel as the third Espada. Talk about boobalicious!
Primera Espada and Shunsui.
Ichigo and Ulquiorra!
Read information about the author久保 帯人, also transliterated Taito Kubo, or Jiu bao dai ren.
The son of a town council member in Fuchu, Aki District, Hiroshima. He never took drawing seriously until he was 17; after reading Dragon Ball he knew he wanted to be a manga artist. At the age of 18 he submitted his first concept for the series Zombiepowder but it got rejected. Zombiepowder was rejected multiple times until Kubo was 22, when it finally was accepted by Shonen Jump. It did not last long; it was cancelled after four volumes in late 2000.
His next series, Bleach, about a high school student who becomes a shinigami and fights hollows, was not such a failure. Bleach began regular publication in 2001. It has been running in Weekly Shonen Jump ever since.
